TMBG was actually covering an old educational song for "Why does the sun shine." Specifically, Hy Zaret and Lou Singer (the former apparently wrote the lyrics for "Unchained Melody"). You can find the original (and other similar songs) at: http://www.acme.com/jef/singing_science/ (Full Disclosure: I knew TMBG was a cover, but had to google the link for this comment. Low and behold, it's at one of my favorite sites, acme.com. That's where they have things like the candy heart maker and the license plate maker. Check it out!)
