OK – this is the VERY rough pilot for a new show I’ve been working on with George (of “This 70’s Show” fame) and Don (two-time Rock Paper Scissors champion).
The next episode will move to its own feed, and I’ll have an announcement on when it does. And if you’d like to be a contestant, keep your eyes here on Coverville for an announcement on when the next show will record!
Please feel free to give your feedback – and know that we’ve got sound effects and a visual category choice board coming for the next show!
That was fun! There are of course some rough edges to smooth out, but I enjoyed listening to it as a work in progress.
Yeah, what JR H. said. At some point, i think it would be nice if one of you (the hosts) DID take on one of the questions
Awesome show! I really like this idea… I'll keep my eyes open for the next episode, I wanna compete!
I just got to listen to this. I want in! I spent the hour screaming out at no one while listening to this on my iPhone…
I knew about 70% of the answers instantly and about another 10% with the clues. This is gonna be fun.
Liked it a lot. Needs lots of editing. Game shows must keep moving. Just edit out all the parts where you're waiting for people, or dialing, or waiting, or dialing, etc….. S'ok to do it live and then have the edited version as the podcast.
Just finished listening to the pilot episode. I thought it was great. Liked the variety of questions and music. I too was shouting out answers, and was pleasantly surprised by the number I got right. Looking forward to future episodes.
Echo what everyone else said…fun show! Got a feed link yet so I can subscribe in iTunes? 🙂
Hey Brian (and group) – I really enjoyed the new subject/contest. I think it will be fun for all, once you get the timing down on the special effects (like others have mentioned). One suggestion: Maybe there would be a way to call a contestant, and put them on "hold" prior to bringing them on the air, rather than have all of us witness failed attempts to connect to people (wink) – or, perhaps the failed connections could be edited out prior to posting. I know that all the rough edges will get worked out. Basically, the concept of the program is first class.
I'm a big fan of Coverville and Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me, so for me is like the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups of podcasts! I was grocery shopping while listening to the pilot, and had a great time guessing the answers. Some games were tougher for me than others, but I especially liked the percussion intros. Ppl in the produce section were giving me strange looks as I was answering aloud (couldn't help myself!).
Recognizing this was a raw first attempt, I have to commend you on your great audio quality! I listen to a few call-in quiz show podcasts and often their levels are all over the map and voice quality for participants is horrible. You clearly have a technical advantage in this depertment.
Might I suggest saltine crackers for "Karaoke with 6"? Eye protection will be mandatory for co-hosts!
Can't wait to hear more, and maybe I'll be brave enough to Skype in someday!
I agree with most of the comments above. This show is a GREAT concept. Very cool to give out prizes! That is just a bonus to me.
The Skype levels could use some tweaking (but pretty good for a "raw" show) and I could do without all of the Skype sounds (calling, ringing, etc.). The only really annoying thing was giving 5 more clues after the original clues you gave. Also, Karaoke with 6: Food + microphones = no. But you could do almost anything and I would still subscribe, just for the trivia and fun. And I will be adding you on Skype!
I'd love to play this. I think I knew most the answers!
