I thought "Baby, It's Cold Outside" was written by Frank Loesser and his wife and they used to perform it at dinner parties every Christmas. Or something like that. I guess if Johnny Mercer's version was the first well-known version, that counts.
Really, it's such a great song, I think Brian should find any excuse to play it – no matter what the theme of any show
I still think of Baby It's Cold Outside as a Ricardo Montleban/Esther Williams song, from the movie Neptune's Daughter: http://rogerowengreen.blogspot.com/2008/10/m-is-f... . Darrin is correect re Frank Loesser.

You are correct.

It was a real fight to see who could get on the charts first after the movie release.
Look at those recording and release dates for 1949.
And, yeah, great song and a stop me in my tracks cover version. I was off looking for it and downloading the EP before the song had finished.
Thanks for giving TP&TF some more coverville-lovin! And, Ian, thanks for the kind words – enjoy the record – it was a blast to make.

I like the "Come Rain or Come Shine," but I personally think Don Henley's version on the Leaving Las Vegas soundtrack is phenomenal.
