Last time, Lily Allen’s “Mr. Blue Sky” rose above the P. Hux version 69% to 27%, but many people posted The Delgados’ version as the “other” category. Very good stuff!
By request, this week we’re looking at another battle of the sexes, with two very distinct versions of Stealers Wheel’s “Stuck In The MIddle With You”. The late, great Jeff Healey’s version, and the lovely Susanna Hoffs rendition.
Which of the following two versions do you think tries to make some sense of it all?
Jeff Healey:

Susanna Hoffs:

Both good, but you can't beat a version done by a French group called Fu@kulele (and they don't use the "@"). See their MySpace site at http://www.myspace.com/fuckulele
Mr Blonde says Healey.
Jeff Healey by far. Gets the vote since he was a local hero here in the Toronto area. Man is he missed. If you're ever in Toronto Brian, you got to stop by his club, Healey's. Best Blues and Jazz club going. It wasn't just a naming rights thing either, it was his all the way, he ran it with his staff.
Susanna Hoffs for the win. There's nothing wrong with Jeff Healey's version, but it didn't grab me like Susanna's did.
I totally this this should be a mini-show format rather than just listening to two MP3's. What do other Coverville listeners think? I'd love to get this in my iTunes feed as a short show once a week (or as often as time allows).
As much as I like Susana Hoff, I felt like she was phoning this one in, as if it were done from a distance.. Jeff Healey has much more emotion both in his singing and his playing.
