Tonight, continuing with our celebration of performers who are getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, let’s take a track-by-track look at the album that put inductee Jimmy Cliff (as well as mainstream reggae) into the minds and onto the turntables of America: the soundtrack to “The Harder They Come”.

The artist Doveman has done a song-by-song cover of the soundtrack to the movie Footloose. Very mellow, Postal-Service-esque renditions of everything from Kenny Loggins’ title track to Deneice Williams’ “Let’s Hear It For The Boy”.
And it’s a free download. Share and enjoy! And make sure you check out the touching paragraph about his inspiration for the album. It makes the music even lovelier.
Thanks to listener Marck for telling me about this.

I’m still in Vegas – and haven’t had a chance to finish and upload last night’s Coverville. (The Richard Cheese show was fantastic – make sure to catch one of his end-of-the-year performances at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas).
But to give you your cover “fix” this morning, I’m pleased to offer – with immense thanks to Jesse Mank of Hussalonia – the entire cover album of Glass Houses (I featured a track form the album last week).
