I have to agree with imajoebob, I thought it was a bit dynamically flat, the choruses especially felt like they were dragging. But I love the song itself enough to overlook that I guess. It was kind of cute when he kept cuddling up to her at the end and then she laughed at him.

Dweezil ain't no Gary Richrath (never send a boy to do a man's job), but I really like this. I saw Speedwagon on this tour in 1980. It was snowing to beat the band and we were piled into my friend's station wagon (yes, just like "That 70's Show"). We were 15th row on the floor, and when they set all the flash pots (about 20) off at the end of "Ridin' The Storm Out" - in pairs and then all at once, it was so hot it literally hurt. Ah, youth.

The only drawback, overlooking a few lyric missteps, is Loeb's lack of a real crescendo at the end. The original is probably the prototypical power ballad, and if you're going to stay true to the style, go all the way.

I thought Toyotaboy was the King of Youtube? But anyway, I'm glad you liked this video. I've always had a soft spot for this song and the cover by Lisa really works for me.

Thanks for the great podcast/website Brian.

Nice find Arcadia (king of the Youtube), though I wonder what Dweezil's dad would say with him covering R.E.O Speedwagon :-)

I can think of an artist who might make it through AA - Allison Crowe. I think she could rock it out too if needed.

Adrian?
