Both legends in their fields. Smokey Robinson and his amazing writing and performing for Motown, and Dr. Dre, and his writing, performing and producing in hip-hop. Both having a birthday and both on this episode of Coverville! (80 minutes)

Thought you should know that “Ooh Baby Baby” was also covered by Lenny Kravitz on his 2014 CD, “Strut”. Interesting mix this week, my man!
Hey Brian, this episode is a great example of how much musical discovery Coverville brings me. I had no idea Smokey Robinson had written so much of the music I like! Awesome!
Hi. Enjoyable show. Wondering about the Blackstreet closer…did Smokey have credit on Billie Jean, or I guess Dre was involved in the track. Oh wait..neither, I just heard you say. Hmm… with the multitude of Dre to choose from and the significantly smaller time given, I found that selection quite inadequate.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy it, Leigh – I didn’t find that there were a lot of Dr. Dre songs to choose from out there, at least not as many that would fit in with the range of genres I usually stick to. With Dre’s connections to Blackstreet (being involved with the song that was easily their biggest hit), coupled with the fact that I don’t have plans to do a Blackstreet cover story on its own any time soon, I decided to keep it in the playlist.
