Brian,
Another good episode. Just part way through right now. My favorites so far are the Cassettes Won’t Listen and Snow Patrol. There may be an issue with the Freedom Bremner track, however. It was breaking up like a dirty CD at times. One example is around the 1:18 mark. Another is at around 2:04.
Thanks
Wow, just about all my fave tracks of theirs were covered. Great song selection!
Wow! Great Coverville.
Funny I was talking o friends at the dog park about INXS, how great they were and how underrated they are by today’s youth, as they are part of that dreaded 80’s music…
Agree with Arne. I got the skipping on the one track too…
Fixed the skipping – re-download the episode to get the fixed version.
Great stuff, got to this only now (hate having Coverville’s backed up!). That Joe Cocker track was great – made for his voice. Loved too hearing The Loved Ones doing a great song in the style of The Rolling Stones – an influence no doubt!
I had a slightly improper thought during this episode – what if the band recruited Bob Geldof as a lead singer – how would that sound, and how weird would that be?! 🙂
My only complaint about this ep (and it is a REALLY REALLY minor complaint) is that you did not have a cover of Original Sin. Maybe there isn’t a good cover? Although I know that there is a dance/trance remix sample called Dream On Black Girl by Kash (vs. INXS). Not quite a cover.
I also am SOOOOO looking forward to the release of Original Sin (the CD of re-covers by INXS with different vocalists) coming at the end of February. Do you know much about this Brian?
Dan, I’m with you. I really searched for that track, as it’s one of my favorites as well. Came across that dance version as well, but wasn’t impressed.
The “Original Sin” album isn’t bad – I got it right after I recorded the episode (picked up an import). The Rob Thomas “Original Sin” track is dancey as well, and kinda sucks the fire out of the song. It’s a shame, because in the right hands, that song could be something furious and bold.
Brian, gonna feature any of the “Original Sin” CD on the Bonus Ep? Pretty please? 🙂
Pass my best to Tina and Tristan!
Definitely – and you might hear it sooner than that, even.
Great episode, Brian. I was just telling my band a couple weeks ago that we should do an INXS cover. We already do two Joe Cocker covers and the lead singer was thinking about turning the band into a tribute (among other things). Glad to know we can do both!
I was surprised there was no version of “What You Need.” Must be hard to do that one.
