881, not 811 – surely?
Whoops – yeah, that’s right.
as a north londoner (in a pendantic frame of mind) who has long been of the opinion that it was not so much a british invasion but a re-invasion of us r&b and brill buildingisms by english pop bands, i feel i should point out . . .
i’m into something good was originally done by earl-jean (of cookies) and was minor us hit . . .
and needles and pins was originally done by its writer jackie de shannon
Nice to see that you’re not a sore loser, Peter.
Great to hear one of my favorite bands, Fountains of Wayne on the podcast. You actually could have used 2 other songs by them: Better Things (covering the Kinks) and Bus Stop, which was done for the TV Show American Dreams. Given some of the covers they’ve done (Baby One More Time, for example), how ’bout an FOW cover story??
Really liked the Fountains of Wayne song and the Material Issue song.
