Brian, superb tribute to an artist I’ve adored through an entire career.
It’s a tragedy she’s gone but as with many before her, Whitney will live on through her musical legacy.
The David Byrne cover was a “wow” to me. It really suited his distinctive voice.
I wasn’t sure about starting the set off with the Big Daddy cover but it made me have another listing to Cutting Their Own Groove (an album I wouldn’t have were it not for you).
Kevin Rowland is fine by me as I love Dexys and I actually think that My Beuty is a good covers album and very underserving of its “worst cover album ever” title that some have given it.
Finally, thank you for introducing me to the Dolly original, I’d only ever heard the Little Shop of Horrors version.
Keep up the great work!
Kevin Rowland cover of The Greatest Love Of All speaks volumes of addiction, acceptance, and recovery. Although I have heard bad things about this Album, Pete is right it is far from Bad. Now I just have to find it to download it.
