Calling Sheryl Crow the original artist of “Mississippi” is a bit misleading, no? Dylan wrote the song and recorded it for Time Out of Mind (1997) although it wasn’t officially released until after Crow’s version.
Almost quoting verbatim what I said in the show! 🙂 You should know that I wouldn’t let a great piece of trivia like that slide by!
Love and Theft came out in 2001, not 2012, as you stated. In fact, I remember the release date quite well since I had preordered it: September 11.
Is there any noted current solo artist who has contributed more covers to various recordings over the past two decades than Ms. Crow? Would love to see a list of all her covers that exist on available CDs and MP3s.
