Results of last week’s battle: Who did it better? Tim Curry or Jonathan Coulton?
In the third of four Beatles editions of Who Did It Better, we’ll look at George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, and two versions that I’d even have a hard time deciding between. First up is an acoustic instrumental version by ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, followed by a dreamy, wispy version by Damon & Naomi.

For these two, I voted for Jake Shimabukuro. However, I really like the Jeff Healey, Toto, and Vinnie Moore versions of the song.
I agree, of the two, Jake totally takes it. But i really like the version done by Derek Webb on his Democracy Vol. 1. Folks should look into that, also featuring a great cover of Power of Love. http://www.beingryanbyrd.com/wordpress/2010/02/05… http://www.beingryanbyrd.com/index.php?id=6050071…
Where was the Jeff Healey cover?
Brian, your music choices have become increasingly fail.
Harrison himself was a big fan of the ukelele, so I have to give it to Jake… a perfect marriage of material and music.
Of those two, I prefer Jake Shimabukuro, but I voted with a write-in for Vinnie Moore's version off Time Odyssey.
I voted for Jake, too. But come on, I think Floyd from the Muppets at least deserves an honorable mention.
That cover from Jake Shimabukuro is outstanding.
i'm late to the party but my heart is always with Jeff Healey on this song. I think I knew his version before i knew the Beatles' and I love it.
I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but Girl in a Coma does a pretty good cover, on their “Adventures in Coverland, Vol. 1”. That said, I voted for Jake’s… LOVE his cover.
