Love the fact that you are celebrating Greg Lake’s birthday and throwing some King Crimson into the mix. However, (and sorry to nitpick) the two Crimson songs you chose really have nothing to do with Greg. He left Crimson to join ELP in 1970 and only appeared on 2 Crimson records. Heartbeat was released in 1982 and the singer (the 4th one after Greg) was Adrien Belew. Adrien was also the singer on the Heroes track. So, at best, there is a tenuous relationship to these songs and Greg.
A good cover resource would have “Schizoid Dimension – A Tribute to King Crimson”. There are 2 good cuts on there from the Greg Lake era, 21st Century Schizoid Man and I Talk To The Wind.
Love the show and am a big Coverville fan, but since Greg, ELP and King Crimson are among my favorites, I could not let this pass by without comment.
Cheers!
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know as much about prog rock as I do other genres. And now it looks like I have two less tracks to choose from when Adrian Belew’s birthday rolls around!
Would be thrilled to see a feature on Adrien but can’t imagine that there is much on him unless you go into what he has covered. He played with Zappa, David Bowie and Laurie Anderson, so you might mine those avenues. BTW – happy to help with prog rock at any time!
