OK, so it’s not the extravaganza at the same level as some of my peers. But there are some great announcements, and there’s more to come. Listen to find out how your band can get produced by music producing legend Shel Talmy, producer of The Kinks and The Who! Here’s what’s on the show tonight:
Title (with link to iTunes, if available) | Artist | Album (with link to Amazon.com, if available) | Original Artist |
Also Sprach Zarathrustra | Those Darn Accordions! | Vongole Fisarmonica | composed by Richard Strauss |
All My Rivals | Chris Brown | Now That You’re Fed | Uncovered Gem of the Week |
Little Green Bag | Tom Jones with Barenaked Ladies | Reload | George Baker Selection |
Living For The City | Aslan | The Platinum Collection | Stevie Wonder |
TEOTH (Total Eclipse of the Heart) | Straight Outta Junior High | Kiss of Deaf | Bonnie Tyler |
Blue Monday | Tanghetto | Mujer De Mi Hermano | New Order |
Love Vigilantes | Radiogram | All The Way Home | New Order |
Don’t you DARE change the coverville theme song! I love it just the way it is! I didn’t even know that that was you! Cool! Please, I beg of you….maybe I just crave familiarity. But please, don’t you know how many listeners do a little dance-while-sitting when the opening refrain starts up? It’s stone-cold Pavlovian! Allow me to demonstrate… *moves shoulders* … It suits the podcast perfectly, and I …well, I fear change.
I would be more vocal about this impending change, but I’m afraid that your significant other will start asking questions. I’m a law-abiding citizen and have nothing to hide, I swear.
Congratulations on the 200th! This IS the best music podcast out there. Here’s to many more!
Absolutely the only podcast I even listen to.
Congratulations! Happy 200!!! looking forward to hearing the next 1000 “‘yet another’ editions of coverville” 🙂
Terrific show, and to echo the other commentators, Coverville is the best podcast out there. It’s the only one I ported over from XPodder into iTunes, and the only one I’ve kept on my subscription list since I started listening to podcasts. The accordion version of Zarathustra is inspired, hands down.
Man, what a wacky version of Blue Monday. You said it was from a Mexican film, but I kept thinking it was Chinese–I wonder if they were using an erhu?
My absolutely favorite version of Love Vigilantes is a recent iTunes version by Iron & Wine. Please check it out.
Great show! Fun, informative, creative and great sounds.
Congratulations on the 200th episode, a big part of your success is that it is personal.
Keep up the personal
Graham
Congratulations on your 200th show!
I haven’t listened to 201 yet so apologies if you’ve corrected this already – but both you and James missed the 4th song in the quiz, the one he talked over just before playing the answers.
It’s “congratulations” by cliff richard 🙂
Congrat’s on #200!!! You are still one of my absolute favorites!
Great show for #200. I loved Blue Monday, and was pleased to find that I could download it from my emusic account…
I’m sure you’ve heard Thea Gilmore’s version of “Cover me” I assume it’s not what you had in mind for a theme song
