Just started listening. This cover of “Get This Party Started” is equal parts Moulin Rouge and James Bond. More like this, please!
There was a charity recording of “Perfect day” in the UK in the 1997 featuring many artists, including Brett Anderson from Suede.
And you might want to check out a cool lounge-style version of Purple Haze by Mr Dion Dimucci, of “Runaround Sue” fame.
Just wanted to say great episode, I loved the Shirly Bassey cover of “Get this party started.” I’ve been listening to it a lot since I bought it on iTunes. Great job Brian!
I had that ahhhaa moment with these two songs and started singing along the original when I heard this new song, both I have found to be slightly hard to find. The original was “This Beat Goes on (Slip into glide)” by a one hit wonder canadian band The Kings, The second was “Nothing at all” by The Shins. I went back to listen to them and i’m not sure how close they are… what do you think (if you can find them both)
Speaking of Shirly Bassy, there is a very solid live cover of Diamonds are Forever by the Artic Monkeys out there that might make a nice match for a cover of you only live twice, or on a show of all bond theme covers…
Just one minor point – it’s Bassey as in “Lassie”, not Bassey as in “Count”.
