It’s pronounced jill-in-hall. Like her brother, Jake Gyllenhaal. Ring a bell yet, Brian?
You just had to play another cover of ‘Hallelujah’ didn’t you? It was pretty good so I can’t complain.
Some negative comments:
Zooey Deschanel is amazing on screen, but I just don’t get the fascination with her music. It really is very sub-par IMHO. The ‘Him’, M. Ward is a very, VERY talented guy but you can’t tell from the She & Him recordings. The indie press loves them, but I just don’t see/hear it. Watch ‘She’s movies, and download ‘Him’s solo/lead tracks and you will be much more satisfied.
I think you’ve lost it, Brian. You actually thought that Jill Hennessy vocal was good? yikes. my skin was crawling.
Crispin Glover made my skin run away and hide. WTH was that?
Positive comments:
Nimoy kicked butt~! and as much as I dislike Billy Bob’s personality, he is a pretty good actor, and now I know he’s a pretty good singer too.
Wow.
I know he’s an actor and not a musician, but the Crispin Glover track was HORRIBLE!
The Leonard Nemoy cover of “Ruby” was excellent though! 🙂
Decided against the Jordon (Katie price) and Peter Andre album then? 🙂
You are totally right about Zooey. Who wouldn’t have a crush on her?
OK, I’m off topic. I’m new to American Idol but have been listening to Coverville since prior to episode 100. The final singer on Tuesday’s American Idol performed (which I didn’t see until last night thanks to my DVR) and does an awesome rendition of Billie Jean and I thought…”I’ve heard that somewhere else”. Sure enough, episode 359 Brian played Chris Cornell (and again during the countdown series) singing the Billie Jean exactly like what was just on AI. Another example of how podcasting is exposing many of us to some of the best music that few people hear by listening to commercial radio. Thanks Brian!!!!!!!
Maybe it’s just me…but Hallelujah is rapidly approaching Umbrella as the most ridiculously overcovered song in music. I could use a moratorium on that particular tune for a while.
