Nice choices. I thought you might also include Micheal Bublé's version of "Kissing a Fool", but oh well….
I had it in the list, but I thought it was a little too close to the original. I could have almost done an entire "Faith" album cover-to-cover. The Nylons' "Monkey" would have been in there too.
Another fantastic show! Thanks for playing such interesting and cool music. As for the Ben and Rufus rendition of "Careless Whisper," I keep getting goosebumps whenever I replay it. Rufus simply brings down the house, doesn't he?
Hi folks, monkey was one really great song … on which CD may one get The Nylons' version of that tune?
You'll find it on their 1997 album, "Fabric Of Life".
Fantastic and thanks for the mention! Robbie Williams actually had a far more successful release of Freedom 90 than George Michael, releasing a cover as his first release after leaving Take That. And i'm still hopeful you can play George's fantastic cover of Queen's "Somebody to love" from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at some time.
Careless Whisper was included on the Wham! album "Make it big" but the single released was recorded by George and released as a solo single. He has never said this, but it is highly likely that adding Andrew Ridgley as a co-writer was a generous parting gift to his friend. The single reached number 1 in 25 countries and I think sold about 6 million singles. Andrew Ridgley is now able to spend his days surfing on the back of the royalties!
I was afraid of this one; not my favorite artist. But I liked it.
Careless Whisper as heard hear sounds more or less like a version I might hear at my church talent show. Are you kidding me? Goosebumps?
