Hey, Brian – This particular podcast inspired this particular blog post: http://rogerowengreen.blogspot.com/2008/10/l-is-f…
Thanks again.
I liked the set, but I wish you'd played my all-time favorite, Stairway to Gilligan's Island by Little Roger and the Goosebumps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTCYLbFxTpI
Very nice. I would loved to have heard Zappa's 'Stairway' included from The Best Band discs (Amazon: http://is.gd/354I) (YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p3Ue3ncH3g) I can't get enough of the horns in that version.
I only knew tiny Tim's version of tiptoe through the tulips, I was pleasantly surprised by his Stairway cover
I played that version (and the Dolly Parton cover) back in #187 – indeed an excellent version!

This was one of my April Fools episodes, where I tried to convince people that it was the original…
Wow!! I really enjoyed this podcast! I especially enjoyed the Rock Lobsters version
I'd forgotten the Whippersnappers. They were one of a bunch of great pop-rock bands fronted by women around the early 90s from Australia like the Clouds and the Falling Joys. They also do a great cover of Russell Morris's Sweet Sweet Love on a RRR Used and Recovered album.
Great show, Brian. Denton's "Money or the Gun" was silly but tackled serious subjects at times. There was a sense of anticipation to see what strange band he would have attacking the song each week. He is now a terrific, sympathetic television inteviewer with his series "Enough Rope" and still manages to tackle serious issues with a sense of fun.
This was a really enjoyable show and thanks for Rolf – that's different to the version i have and has more fun elements which is great. I tell you, the guy's a genius!
Listening to Tiny Tim…I just wonder where a certain Ricardo Queso got his inspiration from, only a few years later? 🙂
The Rock Lobsters were great. Hope to hear more from them.
have you heard Tim Wilson perform "Stairway" as Strother Martin in "Cool Hand Luke?" I believe it may be on a Bob & Tom album.
Love the podcast. I was listening to this while waiting for "Bruce 2" to be posted.
I got confused by this one – after listening to Taurus, I didn't realise the Rodrigo Y Gabriela version had begun, so I just stood in awe looking at my iPod speaker dock being stunned by what I was hearing and wondered why Spirit hadn't sued Zep into oblivion. Only now do I realise my error.
Or, to use the more common parlance, DUUUUUUHHHHHH.
