In the Badly Drawn Boy cover, is the piano purposefully bad? I can't tell if it's an artistic choice in the first minute or so. It's painful, in any case.
Just wanted to thank you for splitting the Springsteen cover story. Even figuring for duplication for intro, ads and whatnot, it would have still have run about 70 minutes, which would have just been TOO LONG.
The "does your bus stop at 82nd street" cover was awesome, though it was from Springsteen's (best album IMO) "Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ", so i'm intrigued at the album name the cover comes from!
No Elvis Costello cover either, and he does do at least good one. Amazing! 🙂
Finally, please don't think we are all as miserable here as Badly Drawn Boy!!

I am a huge Bruce fan, and I think that the "Pet Sounds Cover Story" (which had a number of quirky covers) was one of the best 'casts you've ever done. So I started off disappointed that most of the songs were fairly straightforward covers. But I was very pleased by the "Downbound Train" and "Racing in the Street" covers in this 'cast. I only wish that the Strange Frontier album was available in iTunes.
Do you think we could be expect the other 50 minutes you said you planned in a "Bruce Springsteen Cover Story, Part III"? I think that would be a wonderful treat in 4-6 months.
Thanks, as always.

The title of the album comes from a postcard. Similar postcards were made for lots of vacation cities ( see http://images.google.com/images?q=%22greetings+fr…).
Asbury Park itself is a resort town that was a favorite for New Yorkers in the period of 1880 – 1960 or so. In the days before easy air travel, Asbury Park was about a 90 minute train ride from New York City. Bruce grew up about 20 miles away, and even though the city was fading by the time he launched his career, there was still an active club scene. The city languished after about 1975, but reinvestment started bringing people back in the past few years (we'll see how that continues, given the recent economic turmoil). Nevertheless, Bruce has stayed true to Asbury Park, returning on occasion to play at the clubs of his youth that have remained open.
Brian,
Love the Thea Gilmore version of Cover Me. It's very Portishead in terms of its pace and beat.
I also felt a familiarity in tthis cover as you mentioned and I think I’ve put my finger on it. It has very similar tonal qualities to Bruce’s Philadelphia. Am I right?
