On Friday, I spoke to Julie at ASCAP, who is lifting the restriction on putting song lists in my show notes! So from now on, you’ll find the song lists on the Coverville site. Thanks Julie!
Tonight we have a special guest in the studio: Dave from the Colorado Springs Gazette! Dave is listening in on the show to see how it’s all put together. And here’s what I put together for the show:
“(Open Up Your) Filthy Heart (To Me)” – Shriekback (the Uncovered Gem of the week)
“One” – Filter (originally Three Dog Night)
“Midnight Cowboy” – Faith No More (originally John Barry and his Orchestra)
“I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” – Cowboy Junkies (originally Hank Williams)
“Wild Horses” – Gov’t Mule (originally The Rolling Stones)
“(Nothing But) Flowers” – Guster (originally The Talking Heads)
I’m trying to figure out a clean way to give you all faster downloads in the first few hours that the show is available. Until I do, though, I thank you for your patience and hope each show is worth the wait!
Thanks again for all your votes at Podcast Alley! Your support is what makes this show possible. If you’d like to cast a vote for me, you can use the link in the top right corner of this page.
Aloha, Brian!
I just finished burning the first 25 Coverville shows when I heard you’re planning to delete some old shows to make room for new ones. So I got the archives pretty much covered, but I had problems downloading episodes 8 and 23, both didn’t load completely. I tried it a few times, but it never works, so I’m assuming maybe the files on your server are damaged? I’d really like to have them completely, so could you maybe re-upload them?
Having said that, I love your show! You have a great taste in music, thank you for sharing it!
Also, on your next all-request show, maybe you could do a long distance dedication for my girlfriend Sarah. She’s in Paris for a year (I’m in Germany) and since she has no internet access there I send her the latest Coverville shows via mail. Maybe you could find something to play for her, perhaps something psychadelic, she’d like that.
Thanks, Sebastian!
It’s Gov’t Mule, never spelled out 🙂
Hi,
I was listening to your show today and I got to thinking. Has anyone ever covered a Marillion tune? Their music is quite style specific and I don’t know if it would move across genres much but who knows?
If you’re up to it, take this challenge!
A very avid listener in Japan.
the filter cover of the three dog night tune is fine. mighty fine.
the three dog night song is a Harry Nilsson orginal.
if you have questions go http://coversproject.com/
an aweful good source.

I can’t wait to hear the (Nothing But) Flowers cover. It’s my favorite Talking Heads song. But I’ve got a personal hang-up about listening to these shows in order and I’m only halfway through the Pretenders show now. UGH
Thanks for the continued pain. =)
YEAHHH!!!!
“Wild Horses”!!!
Brian, you’re the MAN!!!

Brian,
Awesome show! Thanks so much for making the effort to keep it safe for work, I do appreciate it!
I heard a Chicago Blues band cover Garth Brook’s Friends in Low Places once and was hooked. My favorites tend to be familiar songs applied to new genres. Dread Zeppelin and The Vapors singing “I Won’t Grow Up” come to mind.
Again, keep up the awesome effort! And we really will “Turn Japanese” before we run out of covers, come on :~)
Absolutely loved the (Nothing But) Flowers cover. I skipped back and listened to it a couple times.
In response to your comment about taking down old shows, I am listening to Coverville show #1 right now. I probably won’t listen to it all, but it’s amazing how your production has evolved.
Great job, and I continue to look forward to more episodes!
