Let’s do the Five Degrees of Coveration between Pearson and Gershwin, with a couple of really cool songs to round out the half-hour:
“Oh Girl” – Paul Young (originally the Chi-Lites)
“Closer to Fine” – Pearson (originally The Indigo Girls)
“Blister in the Sun (Live)” – The Indigo Girls (originally The Violent Femmes)
“Every Breath You Take” The Violent Femmes (originally The Police)
“Someone To Watch Over Me” – Sting (written by George and Ira Gershwin)
“We Belong” – Lowen & Navarro (originally Pat Benatar, but written by Lowen & Navarro)

As always, thanks for giving us a great show this Tuesday night! The “Five Degrees” theme was quite clever.
Listening to “Oh, Girl” as performed by Paul Young reminds me of one of his better known covers of a more obscure original. That’s Hall and Oates’ “Every Time You Go Away” from their “Voices” LP. Quite a good one — and may be an interesting track for your next “Originalville” show…

Always nice to hear you…

I don’t even HAVE an iPod (husband does) but I saw your inclusion of Sting’s cover of “Someone to Watch Over Me”. I bought that as an Asian import CD some time ago after hearing the song used in the Tom Berenger/Mimi Rogers movie with the same title. I love it!
What about Richard Marx’s cover of Billy Joel’s Miami 2017?
My favorite show so far.
