I love that Willie Nelson album, which I own, and which you’ve used before, but it seems to be inexplicably out of print.
The other voice in the Willie Nelson cover is Sinead O’Connor. Listen again and you can pick out the subtleties that are unmistakably her.
Dinah’s right, of course.
I haven’t embraced digital music asd much because I miss the liner notes.
BTW, thanks for playing Biko.
Thanks for the University of Michigan a capella. It’s a great program. I’m a Wolverine, recently landed in Southern California. Good show – Peter’s work mixes the elegant and the complex.
Yes, it’s Sinead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Across_the_Borderline
Just a little note, from what I’ve heard, the Willie/Sinead number was Nelson’s idea. Just after the SNL fiasco when Sinead went on and tore up the pic of the pope, she got a TON of flack and was in a real bad place. Willie heard about it and called her up and asked to do the track with him to lend her so much needed emotional support. That is the tale as I’ve heard it. The was from KGSR about 10 yrs ago. I don’t know how true it is, but a great story.
Three cheers for Willie Nelson! I’m not a fan of his music, but I loved the cover of “Don’t Give Up” and the above story shows that he’s a saint (if true–but it’s such a good story, let’s just say it is).
