LOVED “Immigrant Song” and “Rock and Roll” – agree 100% re: Jerry Lee. His style fitted the song perfectly.
Re: John Paul Young, I am rarely speechless. Ok, not quite, but there is not a place in hell dark enough for what he did to that song. Truly tragic and whoever commissioned that needs to take a very close look at themselves.
Rolf, Dolly, come back, all is forgiven đ
John Paul Young is still should be strung up by his heels for that. Fortunately a great Jerry Lee Lewis cut cleansed my ears.
I am beginning to wonder why Opie Gone Bad isn’t a bigger band.
As an Australian I do truly apologise for the John Paul Young wrongness !
It’s Ok Rose, he was Scottish so you are off the hook. Family moved to Oz when he was in his teens. It’s just like Crowded House, Russell Crowe and the Pavlova, become successful and suddenly you are an Aussie! đ
I enjoy Mana’s cover of “Fool in the Rain”- Tonto en la Lluvia off their Sol album. A great Carribean/ Latin twist to a classic Zeppelin tune.
Next Wednesday we, The Waiting Room folk, are putting on Drunk Covers IV. This time, however, it will be a little different.
The good people over @ Engine Room Recodings have granted us permish to preview-play their entire brand new release GUILT BY ASSOCIATION â you know the one, right?

Could you? Would you?
Muchos,

Brian: Thanks for the story about the joke behind D’Yer Mak’er. I used to laugh back in the ’70s when DJ’s called it “Die-er Maker.” Even then, I knew the pronunciation was supposed to be closer to Jermaker. But it wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized the song had the Jamaica-like name because of its reggae beat.
