Here’s a little history on Terry Jacks’ “Seasons In The Sun” – that bleary ballad from 1974. Look for various versions of the song in future shows…including the original French version.
Thanks to Dave and Todd for letting me know about this!

Too Much Joy did a version I remember fondly.
I could be crazy, but Shaba Ranks’ song Twice my age tsounds like it sampled the chorus to Seasons in Sun.

Tell me what you think.
Wow, I just had “Seasons in The Sun” running thru my head. Dave Barry had something to say about this song, amongst others. Try this link:

I love Too Much Joy’s version, especially live.
Studio version (RealAudio)
Buy 3 different shows on CD with three different performances of the song (one of which has “Pop Muzik” in the middle of it)
If you think “Seasons in the Sun” was bad –
you should hear the b-side. It was called “Put the Bone In” and it’s hard to imagine Mr. Jacks recording it with a straight face. The tune chronicles a scene in a butcher shop where someone’s dog was hit by a car. I’m not sure how it went from there…but it was really bad.
And all this time I thought Put The Bone In was a Soul Asylum original (it’s on their Hang Time album).
